Kaapse Klopse (Minstrel's Parade)

January 2 is the day when minstrel bands parade through the streets of Cape Town.  The custom originated 200 years ago when the slaves were allowed their only day off for the year on January 2.  1000's of people, dressed in bright outfits, wind their way through the city playing music and dancing in the streets.
