Touring the Island of St Helena

We toured the Island with a guide, and Rob and Natalie joined in a walk along a canyon with an island conservation group.  Today only 4,000 people live on the island.  We are one of two cruising yachts in the harbor (although 2 more arrived today).  It is difficult to envision what the island would have been like when 100's of ships stopped for water and supplies as they sailed to and from the far east.  (In 1845, 1,500 ships stopped at St. Helena.) Today only one ship calls on any sort of regular schedule - the RMS St Helena, the last remaining royal mail ship in the world.  There is no airport on the island...access is only by ship.
