Cocos Keeling Islands, Indian Ocean. (Google Earth -12.0924, 96.8795) July 3 – July 17, 2008 Cocos consists of a number of small islands or Pulu, situated around a large lagoon, This is a spectacularly beautiful anchorage. Yachts are required to anchor in one area and use their dinghies, a water taxi, or a ferry that runs twice a week to the two villages on larger islands to the south. We have included some photographs of the anchorage and of Rob making a call from the most scenic telephone we have ever seen – a wireless/solar operated phone inside a picnic shelter on the uninhabited island. We used this phone to make several calls that went almost half way around the world to the USA. Amazing technology.
